A $12,500 bond will be required prior to the issuance of a new California Contractors License. After you’ve passed your Law & Business exam and/or Trade exam you will be required by the State of California to submit your $150 Initial License Fee, your Contractor’s Bond, and your Worker’s Compensation Insurance or Exemption Form.
A $12,500 Bond of Qualifying Individual, or BQI bond, is required if you will be an RME on a Sole Ownership license or an RME or RMO (with less than 10% ownership) on a corporate license.
